Ring of Fire Ritual
The Ring of Fire Spell
This ritual is designed to be worked on eclipse night and then grown over the following two weeks until the full moon on March 3rd. Think of it as planting a seed in the dark of the eclipse and feeding it a little more light each night until it blooms.
What you’ll need:
Tea lights or small candles — enough to form a circle (even five or six will work, you don’t need dozens). If you can do this outside in the snow or cold air, that’s ideal. There’s something about warm fire against cold ground that holds this energy perfectly. But your kitchen table works too. Your altar works. Wherever you are is sacred ground.
Five rune stones or pieces of paper with the following runes drawn on them:
ᛋ Sowilo — the sun
ᛏ Tiwaz — justice and sacrifice
ᛗ Mannaz — humanity and community
ᚲ Kenaz — the torch, knowledge, illumination
ᛞ Dagaz — breakthrough, dawn, transformation
The ritual:
Arrange your tea lights in a ring. Light them one by one. Take your time. Let the circle build. Feel the warmth grow.
When your ring of fire is complete, take a breath. Look at the empty center. That space is where you’re going to place your intentions, one by one.
Pick up each rune stone and place it in the center of the ring as you speak its verse:
Place Sowilo (ᛋ):
By Sowilo’s light, though shadows fall,
I am the fire that feeds us all.
The wolves may chase, the sun may hide,
But ring of flame burns on inside.
Place Tiwaz (ᛏ):
By Tiwaz’s hand, I pay the cost —
I fight for what must not be lost.
No tyrant’s teeth, no binding chain
Can swallow what the brave sustain.
Place Mannaz (ᛗ):
By Mannaz, I am not alone —
The people’s voice becomes my own.
What harms the many harms the one,
We rise together or come undone.
Place Kenaz (ᚲ):
By Kenaz, torch against the dark,
I tend the truth, I guard the spark.
Let ignorance be burned away —
I carry light from day to day.
Place Dagaz (ᛞ):
By Dagaz, dawn begins to break.
With every night more light I make.
As crescent grows to silver round,
This spell takes root, this power’s found.
Now hold your hands over the stones and the flames — palms down, not touching, just hovering — and speak the sealing:
From ring of fire to moon made whole,
I grow in courage, strength, and soul.
What I have spoken, I have sown —
By flame and rune, the seed has grown.
So it is. So it shall be.
Let the candles burn as long as you safely can. When you’re ready to close, blow them out and let the smoke carry upward.
Growing the spell
This isn’t a one-night working…the new moon is the seed. Over the next two weeks, as the moon waxes from crescent to full, your spell is growing too.
Each night between February 17th and March 3rd, take a quiet moment — even just sixty seconds — and repeat the final verse:
From ring of fire to moon made whole,
I grow in courage, strength, and soul.
What I have spoken, I have sown —
By flame and rune, the seed has grown.
So it is. So it shall be.
You can light a single candle for this. You can hold your rune stones. You can just whisper it in the dark before you fall asleep. The point is consistency. You’re feeding the spell a little bit of your attention each night, the same way the moon feeds itself a little more light.
By March 3rd, the moon is full and your spell is whole. Take a moment that night to sit with what’s shifted, what’s grown, and what you’re carrying differently.
